A few years ago i discover worldspace. This was a great moment for me. Listen the radio in a place where no other station have signals was possible. I hear Virgin Radio, Radio Caroline, BBC, Upop, and others. But....... what is Worldspace??? This is a satellite radio company. There's two satellites now , Afristar at 21º east and Asiastar at 105º east. Every satellite have 3 beams(you can see below the coverage maps of the satellites). Worldspace broadcast more than 100 channels.
You need a special receiver but isn't expensive, every receiver comes with antenna, but if you need it , there's an external yagi antenna for install at home roof , or a magnetic antenna for the car. If you are on the road you can receive the satellite radio, only you have audio cuts into a tunnel or under a bridge, normally the system not work at this moments into the city because the buildings cut the satellite signal(there's a proyect to put relay into the city). I was on the road for more than 200 km listening the radio without problems.
Here at Canary Islands some radio station you only can hear with Worlspace. Why? Because some satellites haven't signal here or you need a very big dish(3 meters or 10 feets). For this reason was a amazing discover , i can hear the radio with high quality, near cd quality.
Now most radio channels are encrypted, so you need pay a subscription, you can find details at Wordspace webpage and how you can subscribe, and a list of the radio channels you can hear.

My receivers are now  Ami ASR-WS201 , Hitachi KH-WS1 and Sanyo DSB-WS1000. I have too one magnetic antena(Travelstar antenna bought at Germany), and two yagi antennas , both with preamplifier, one is new in box(reserve) and the other one is put at one meter dish , like was a LNB.
With this experiment i have a lot of signal and i can hear "other beams" of the Afristar satellite. I can hear the East beam using this antenna , i let you know this is not a big invent of mine, i read about this long time ago in another German webpage, unfortunately this website is not active now. You can see below the antenna.

UPDATE!!!! Listening Worldspace on the road going to 2300 meters altitude.

Some months ago i was testing on the road, going to Tenerife's  Mount Teide at 2300 meters. This are the pictures:

I use the travelstar magnetic antenna, you can it see up the car,  you can see too the the gps position and the place where i make

the pictures at Tenerife, Canary Islands.
